Philips and the State Hermitage Museum partnership
In 2010, the historical partnership between Philips and the State Hermitage Museum was given a new start. The first Philips – Hermitage contract has been signed more than a century ago, in 1898, when Philips supplied 50 000 carbon candle bulbs for indoor lighting of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Since that time, Philips light bulbs illuminated the residences of the Russian emperors. In terms of the partnership, Philips presented innovative lighting of the Alexander Column, the Jordan Gallery and the St. George Hall of the Winter Palace during 2010. The projects were implemented using the latest Philips LED solutions. The new lighting emphasized the unique style of Hermitage halls and allowed to save up to 45% of electricity.
